The PBCC County Captain Program is a dedicated network of volunteer representatives who extend our reach into communities across Pennsylvania. These leaders serve as trusted ambassadors — connecting individuals facing breast cancer with critical resources, sharing information, and helping advance our mission at the local level.
Through ongoing support, we equip County Captains with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to confidently represent the PBCC. From understanding our advocacy efforts to promoting our programs and services, County Captains are empowered to deepen their impact and make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve.
Responsibilities of PBCC County Captains:
- Event Representation – Represent the PBCC at events in their county (or surrounding counties) including PBCC photo exhibit openings, Grassroots Partners events, check presentations, health fairs, and other community events
- Connecting the Community – Connect individuals recently diagnosed with breast cancer in their community to the PBCC’s free Friends Like Me care package program and patient advocacy services
- Legislative Initiatives – Help with legislative initiatives by contacting their local lawmakers to request support of breast cancer legislation
- Networking – Attend the PBCC Conference each October (as our guest/travel scholarship) to network with PBCC Staff and other County Captains across the state
