Patient Advocacy Tip: Help with Pet Costs During Cancer

CancerCare recognizes that pets are an integral part of a cancer patient’s support network and developed this program to address the distinct needs of people with cancer who share their home with a cat or dog. The PAW Program helps cancer patients care for their cats or dogs during the emotional, physical and financial challenges of cancer treatment.

The programs offers limited financial assistance for the costs of pet food, pet walking, boarding fees, vet expenses, medications and lab fees. There are also educational materials available that are focused on caring for pets throughout your cancer journey.
