Breast Surgery and COVID-19: Mastectomies, Lumpectomies and Reconstruction

Last week, Governor Wolf authorized hospitals to resume elective surgeries and procedures IF the hospital has enough personal protective equipment (PPE), staff and beds to handle a potential surge of coronavirus.

Under the governor’s directive, when it comes to breast cancer surgeries, the current status depends on each individual hospital. The PA Breast Cancer Coalition reached out to surgeons across the state to find out what protocols look like right now:
