Governor Josh Shapiro signed Act 1 of 2023 / Senate Bill 8 into law! The legislation removes all costs associated with breast MRI, ultrasound, genetic testing and counseling for Pennsylvanians at high-risk for hereditary cancers. Act 1 began taking effect January 1 of 2024.

It's LAW! Governor Signs PBCC's Breast Cancer Research Legislation

Our breast cancer research legislation, Senate Bill 445, now Act 23 of 2021, passed unanimously in PA legislature and signed by Governor Tom Wolf! Senate Bill 445, introduced by Sen. Bob Mensch, allows Pennsylvanians to donate $5 to breast cancer research when renewing their driver’s license or vehicle registration online. PBCC Legislation Requires Coverage for MRI, Ultrasound for High-Risk Women

The PA Senate and PA House unanimously passed Senate Bill 595, which requires insurers to cover additional screenings like MRI or ultrasound for women with very dense breasts and women at an increased risk for breast cancer. Governor Wolf signed SB 595, now Act 52, into law in July. Thank YOU all for taking action on this important legislation!
