The PA Breast Cancer Coalition, in partnership with PA Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward, today released the second in a series of five animations to educate Pennsylvanians on the importance of mammograms and breast cancer awareness.
The latest video focuses on high-risk factors for breast cancer including:
- personal history of breast cancer
- family history of breast cancer
- dense breast tissue
- genetic predisposition
- prior radiation therapy
Women with one or more risk factors are encouraged to talk with their doctor about the best breast cancer screening options based on risk and age.
In the U.S., one in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. For this reason, each short video clip will be released on the eighth of each month leading to October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Next month’s animation will focus on the difference between screening and diagnostic mammograms.
