Volunteer

Your volunteer participation is an invaluable resource, especially since it is difficult for our small (but mighty) staff of 8 to make it to every event across the state! As a grassroots, non-profit organization, we are always in need of creative, organized individuals who are interested in volunteering for the PBCC.

Ways to Volunteer

Health Fair

The PBCC is frequently invited to host information tables at health fairs across the state. If a staff member is not able to attend, we draw on volunteers in that area to help. This person encourages attendees to take our information and giveaways while answering questions about our organization. If you receive a question you are not comfortable answering, please direct people to our website or phone number.

Grassroots Partner Event

Events organized by community members, we call Grassroots Partners, happen all across the state to benefit the PBCC year-round. There are many different jobs at these events; we often seek organized, motivated, and creative volunteers to assist with our wide variety of Grassroots Partners. Jobs could include registering attendees at a walk or run, working an auction table at a dinner, or collecting event tickets at the door. If you are willing to help, we will find a job for you!

Speaker

Often, the PBCC is asked to provide a speaker to talk about breast cancer, share a personal survivor story or the role of the PBCC. Volunteers who are knowledgeable about the PBCC, have a personal story to share and are comfortable speaking in public are always needed for various types of events.

Photo Exhibit Committee Member

The PBCC’s traveling photo exhibit “67 Women 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania” travels to approximately 6 communities across the state each year. In each of those communities, organized and enthusiastic committees are needed to help organize the opening reception and events surrounding the 10-day exhibit.

Drive Out Breast Cancer

Each October, the PBCC proudly participates in the Drive Out Breast Cancer campaign! We partner with car dealerships throughout the state who graciously set up a PBCC information table at their locations and donate a portion of their October proceeds to our organization. We are always looking for individuals interested in recruiting their local dealership/s and/or setting up and tearing down a PBCC information table at a dealership nearest them. If you’d like to assist with Drive Out Breast Cancer, please let us know.

Professional Services

Individuals who are interested in donating their professional services (i.e. graphic design, photography, catering, marketing, etc.) are welcome to share their expertise with the PBCC. We are always looking for new and creative ways to spread the word about our organization and for help at many of our events. If you have a service you’re willing to donate, please let us know!

Host a Donation Drive

An easy way to support the PBCC is by hosting a Donation Drive for our free Friends Like Me breast cancer care packages. Every care package is customized with comforting items and resources for each patient’s needs. Encourage your office, school, church, sports team or community organization to shop items from our Amazon Wish list and help us send the message that no survivor or thriver fights alone!
