On Tuesday, June 9, the PA Breast Cancer Coalition held the 8th annual Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Home Run Derby event at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, PA.  It was a beautiful day for hitting home runs, and many of our batters did just that! With the help of all the batters, volunteers and sponsors, thousands of dollars were raised to support b18805167736_8c5f74b6cb_zreast cancer survivors, their caregivers and families throughout the state.

Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse also showed his support for breast cancer survivors in Pennsylvania by taking a few hits and sporting a Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer jersey!

The fight against breast cancer was in full force with Team Hakuna MaTaTa raising over $4,000 and rising, earning the title of Top Fundraiser!
We had some heavy hitters batting in the derby, with the highest scores coming from Team Teats, Bombs with Burt, Highmark, and Susquehanna River Basin Commission.  The top scores were:
Tomas Ogando, 55 point average, 550 points total
Jody Roof, 50.6 point average, 760 points total
Tim Smith, 33.3 point average, 500 points total
Matt Coder, 32.5 point average, 325 points total
Brian Zellers, 32 point average, 480 points total

There is still time to join the fun and make a difference! The last derby of the year will be held at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster on Saturday, June 20. We hope to see you there to take some swings in an effort to find a cure for breast cancer now… so our daughters won’t have to. Click here to register!
