The

in our traveling photo exhibit "67 Women

in Pennsylvania"™
Sponsored by the PBCC and
funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health

"67 Women - 67 Counties: Facing
Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania"™ is a traveling
photo exhibit hosted by communities in
Pennsylvania. This educational work of art
celebrates the life, courage, hope and dignity
of women and families who have battled breast
cancer. The exhibit is sponsored by the
Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and funded
by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
This touching tribute showcases at
least one woman
from each of the state's 67 counties and serves as
a unique reminder of the emotional and physical
toll breast cancer takes on each woman and her
family. The exhibit encourages women to
learn about and practice early detection through
yearly mammograms, monthly breast self-exams, and
annual clinical exams. More than 103,000 women and their families
are living with breast cancer in the Commonwealth.
Since 1994, the exhibit has been hosted by over 100 communities
and reached millions of Pennsylvanians through the
extensive media coverage it attracts.
There are three components to
this exhibit:
- Education - geared toward
personal and political action
- Empowerment - to provide
information to alleviate fear
- Motivation - to provide
action to find a cause and a cure for breast
cancer

Exhibit
Description - Technical
"67 Women - 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer in
Pennsylvania"™ is being
redesigned!
The new display will debut in the spring of
2010.
The new exhibit
will feature 20 double-sided window shade panels
that are 7 feet high and 3 feet wide. The
beauty of the new design is that the panels can
be placed in a tight floor plan and easily moved
around as needed. We suggest a minimum
area of 1,500 to 2,000 square feet to best
display all the panels. Each panel should
be allotted approximately 2 1/2 feet of walking
space so that attendees can view the photos and
quotes of the women featured.
Hosting Information
Our contract with the Department of
Health allows us to take the traveling photo exhibit
into 6 communities a year. The
Exhibit is typically displayed for 10 days and opens
on a Thursday. PBCC staff members deliver and
set up the display. The site is NOT
responsible for the delivery, set up or storage of
the transport cases for the duration of the exhibit.
To kick off the Exhibit's visit to the community,
the PBCC and the host site will hold an opening
reception with speakers and refreshments. The
PBCC, along with the host site, will form a
community committee (i.e. other hospitals in the
area, support groups, interested survivors, etc.) to
plan all the details of the reception.
If you'd like more information or are interested in
hosting this exhibit, please email
Jen
Pensinger.
Some additional requirements:
The site must be ADA (Americans with Disabilities
Act) accessible. If the display is hosted at
a hospital, the hospital must check prior to
confirmation that the display meets all current Life
Safety requirements.
We are required by the PA Department of Health,
who funds the display, to get pre-approval of all
host sites prior to the committee organization.
We currently have a waiting list of sites and
priority is given on a first come, first served
basis by region.
