“Regina’s Wood” Benefit Auction

A unique auction “Regina’s Wood”, will be presented in the Harrisburg area February 15, 2003, to benefit Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. The afternoon event, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at West Shore Country Club, Camp Hill, will feature a silent auction of original decorative painting pieces.

Sponsored by the Penn’s Woods Painters Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters, international decorative arts organization, the auction, in memory of the late Regina Magel, charter member of the group, will feature the individual work of local decorative artists in South-Central Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Magel, of Mechanicsburg, died in 2002, after a long struggle with cancer. She had been active in the decorative arts, including spearheading the local chapter’s project of supplying memory boxes to local hospitals for bereaved parents of deceased infants, and overseeing the creation of a mural by volunteer painters for Seidle Memorial Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
Her family has donated unpainted wood and tin pieces left by Mrs. Magel, which have been painted by noted decorative artists from the area. Approximately 100 pieces of hand-painted art will be available for auction including items such as cabinets, bandboxes, sleds, plaques, furniture, panels, figures, baskets, chests, mirrors, tinware, and plates.

The afternoon event will feature the silent auction, entertainment by the Harrisburg Singers, desserts and hors d’oeuvres. Admission is $35.00. Ticket information is available at Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 98 S. Enola Drive, Enola, phone 732-1000; The Tole Booth, 1159 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, phone 245-0931; or by calling 697-7026 or email at toleheart@pipeline.com.

Proceeds will benefit Hospice of Central Pennsylvania,
celebrating its 25th Anniversary of providing care to families in the community who are coping with a terminal illness with its home care program and Carolyn Croxton Slane Residence, for individuals who cannot remain in their own home; and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, founded in 1993, a statewide grassroots organization dedicated to ending the breast cancer epidemic through research, education, outreach, and advocacy.
