"67 Women - 67 Counties: Facing Breast
Cancer in Pennsylvania", is sponsored
by the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and funded by
the PA Department of Health. The photo exhibit
showcases at least one woman from each county
in the state. It celebrates the life, courage,
hope and dignity of the women and families who
have had a personal battle with breast cancer
and encourages women to learn about early detection.
"Visiting the traveling photo exhibit
is a wonderful opportunity to make sure that messages
concerning the health and welfare of families
reach every community in our Commonwealth. The
67 Women - 67 Counties photo exhibit - which is
both inspiring and emotional - is a very effective
and moving way to increase breast cancer awareness
in Pennsylvania," Pennsylvania First
Lady Kathy Schweiker said. Mrs. Schweiker
serves as honorary chair of the Pennsylvania Breast
Cancer Coalition.
Pat Halpin-Murphy, PBCC President and Founder
encourages everyone to visit the exhibit. "Breast
cancer is not a rare event separate from the fabrics
of our lives. It is our mothers, our daughters,
our friends, ourselves. We must educate ourselves
about this insidious disease and fight to find
a cure now
so our daughters won't
have to."
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition,
founded in 1993,
is a non-profit organization serving the state's
67 counties through a network of
County Captains, Regional Vice Presidents and
a statewide Board of Directors.
The PBCC's mission is to find a cure for breast
cancer and
to improve the quality of breast cancer education,
research and outreach in the state.
