Premiere in Indiana County to Focus on Rural Outreach
"67 Women - 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer
in Pennsylvania", an educational work of
art sponsored by the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer
Coalition and funded by the Pennsylvania Department
of Health is on display at the Indiana County
Fair August 24 through September 1. The opening
reception is Monday, August 27 at noon at the
J.S. Mack Community Center. The exhibit and opening
reception are open to the public. To RSVP call
the PBCC at 1-800-377-8828 ext. 304.
The PBCC joins the Indiana County Cancer Coalition
and the Indiana County Cooperative Extension to
bring this incredible outreach tool to the women
and families of Indiana County. The photo exhibit
showcases at least one woman from each county
in the state. It celebrates the life, courage,
hope and dignity of the women and families who
have had a personal battle with breast cancer
and encourages women to learn about early detection.
First Lady Michele Ridge is Honorary Chair of
the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. "More
women are surviving breast cancer now than at
any time in our history," said Mrs. Ridge.
"As we look at the photographs in this exhibit
and see the faces of those who are currently battling
breast cancer, we celebrate the hope that we are
moving closer to finding a cure."
Pat Halpin-Murphy, President and Founder of the
Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition encourages
everyone to visit the display. "Breast cancer
is not a rare event separate from the fabrics
of our lives. It is our mothers, our daughters,
our friends, ourselves. We must educate ourselves
about this insidious disease and fight to find
a cure now. so our daughters won't have to. |
