EPHRATA, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition announces the publication of an updated 2nd Edition of their insurance guidebook, “Breast Cancer: Covered or Not?” The book, co-authored by former PA Department of Aging Secretary Dr. Linda Rhodes and PBCC President & Founder Pat Halpin-Murphy, provides a valuable resource for those who have questions and concerns about health insurance and employment issues.
"Women and their families facing a breast cancer diagnosis should not be faced with the additional challenge of dealing with complex insurance and employment issues on their own,” said Pat Halpin-Murphy. “Our insurance guidebook helps women battling breast cancer with specific detailed information including access to FREE treatment so they may focus their attention on beating the disease, not their insurance company."
The book addresses some of the most pressing questions that breast cancer survivors face when making decisions about their treatment and care – ranging from general information such as where to turn for help with insurance claims and who pays for clinical trials, to specific step-by-step options for individuals with various levels of insurance coverage, to sample letters to your insurer and employer on topics such as the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Join the PBCC to kickoff the 2nd Edition Insurance Guidebook campaign at the PA Commission for Women’s annual Pink Fountain event in Harrisburg. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30 at 12pm at the East Wing Fountain.
