PA Breast Cancer Coalition Awarded Lance Armstrong Foundation Grant To Support Cancer Survivorship Initiatives

EPHRATA, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) received a $25,000 community program grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) to support the Friends Like Me™ Survivor Care Package program. This Friends Like Me™ Survivor Care Package is designed to meet the needs of women who have moved beyond diagnosis, treatment and recovery from cancer and on to survivorship.

“With this grant, the PBCC plans to provide great materials, resources and cosmetic items to breast cancer survivors in Pennsylvania,” said Pat Halpin-Murphy, President and Founder at the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. “We are honored and excited to be among such an extraordinary group of recipients who all share a passion for helping people living with cancer.”

Friends Like Me™ Survivor Care Packages include valuable tools for breast cancer survivors at no cost to the recipient. Care packages contain books, resources, cosmetic items and gifts which celebrate breast cancer survivorship. FREE care packages may be requested by visiting http://www.pabreastcancer.org/survivorbox.html or by calling 1-800-377-8828 x100.

The LAF provides financial support and capacity-building counsel for community-centered initiatives that address the physical, emotional and practical challenges of cancer. The LAF also offers its community program partners regular training, technical assistance and the opportunity to discuss challenges and exchange best practices at its community program conference.

“Through our community program grants, the Lance Armstrong Foundation is pleased to support project planning and evaluation projects for organizations like the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition,” said Andy Miller, director of survivorship at the LAF. “Together, we are enhancing the quality of life for people affected by cancer.”
