The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Urges You to Donate Your State Income Tax Refund to Breast and Cervical Cancer Research
EPHRATA, Pa. – A simple check mark on line 35 of tax form PA 40 will enable Pennsylvania residents to donate all or part of their state income tax refund to breast and cervical cancer research through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Research Act. Those who choose to donate their state income tax refund will join thousands of Pennsylvania tax filers who have contributed nearly $2 million for Pennsylvania-based cancer research to date.
The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition worked with the state legislature in 1997 to enact the Income Tax Check-Off program, which has since become the most popular refund donation option in Pennsylvania. Every penny raised through the initiative goes directly to fund breast and cervical cancer research conducted by Pennsylvania researchers.
PBCC President & Founder, Pat Halpin-Murphy, said, “Thousands of checkmarks made by Pennsylvania residents have raised nearly $2 million for breast cancer research here in Pennsylvania. The generosity of the people of Pennsylvania for this program has been overwhelming. This simple and effective program, and the support of so many Pennsylvanians, reinforces our commitment to finding a cure now…so our daughters won’t have to.”
The PA Cancer Control, Prevention, and Research Advisory Board’s Income Tax Check-Off Committee recommends how the funds should be distributed to researchers. The Committee is chaired by Pat Halpin-Murphy.
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition represents, supports and serves breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania through educational programming, legislative advocacy and unique outreach initiatives. The PBCC is a statewide non-profit organization that creates the hope of a brighter tomorrow by providing action and information to women with breast cancer today.
