The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Showcases Its Traveling Photo Exhibit at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) is pleased to work with Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network to premier its traveling photo exhibit, “67 Women, 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania,” in the Greater Lehigh Valley from April 6-23, 2006. The photo exhibit will be displayed at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, 2545 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem.

An opening reception, sponsored by Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, is scheduled for Thursday, April 6 at 5:30 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. To RSVP for the reception, please call 610-402-CARE.

This educational work of art features women from each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties, along with a message about how breast cancer has touched their lives. The women reflect the diversity of Pennsylvania, and their stories reflect the impact of breast cancer on themselves, their families and their communities. The exhibit encourages women to learn about early detection and celebrates the life, courage, hope and dignity of women and families who have battled breast cancer.

Pat Halpin-Murphy, PBCC President & Founder, encourages everyone to visit the exhibit. “Breast cancer is not a rare event separate from the fabrics of our everyday lives. It impacts our mothers, daughters and friends. We must educate ourselves about this disease and fight to find a cure now…so our daughters won’t have to.”

“67 Women, 67 Counties: Facing Breast Cancer in Pennsylvania” is sponsored by the PBCC and funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The exhibit travels to several select Pennsylvania communities each year, and has been to over 70 communities since its launch ten years ago.

“The cancer care team at Lehigh Valley Hospital--Muhlenberg is pleased to honor all survivors by hosting this photo exhibit,” says Victor R. Risch, M.D., Ph.D., chairman, radiation oncology, Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network. “This important and educational work of art will encourage all who enter our doors.”

The PBCC, founded in 1993, is a non-profit organization and the only statewide grassroots organization that speaks to and for breast cancer survivors. The PBCC’s mission is to find a cure for breast cancer and to improve the quality of breast cancer education, research and outreach in the state.
