The Hanson Brothers On Ice; “They Shoot -- We Score”

The movie Mystery, Alaska told the story of a hockey publicity stunt that brought a NHL team to a small rural town to play the locals. On May 2, Lebanon County hockey fans will experience a real life hollywood story when three of the most well known and recognized hockey faces in the world -- team up with local talent to raise money for the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.

The Hanson Brothers On Ice; “They Shoot -- We Score” is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. at the new Klick Lewis Ice Arena in Annville. The event will feature the original Hanson Brothers from the 1977 movie Slap Shot playing with the Red Robin Robin’s and the Harbour House Crabs. This will be the area’s fourth Hanson Brothers appearance which has already raised over 20,000 for the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. The game will feature the use of "pink hockey pucks and skate laces" and a pink themed arena.

According to Rob Ziemba, Palmyra resident and Founder of “Play It Again” for Charity; “In three years we have created our own Hanson Brothers Booster Club right here in Central Pa. Fans love them and they enjoy the fan interaction on and off the ice. In 2009 we are bringing them home to Lebanon County which I think is – great! This year we added two local hockey experts as player coaches, Ted Russell, Hockey Head Coach for Lebanon Valley College and Hershey Bear fan favorite Mitch Lamoureux."

Rob added; "The timing is perfect for the Hanson’s return. The original movie Slap Shot is still a cult classic with fans, Slap Shot 3, the Junior League is out on DVD and Dave Hanson has a new book on the market. We’re going to make this another successful event for the Pa Breast Cancer Coailtion and give fans something ---they may never see again.”

Jon Jehrio, Event Chairman added'; "We know people love the past and things associated with it. NHL/AHL Alumni and outdoor hockey games are a great way to take fans back in time, and we like that. Slap Shot is a cult classic and well known by hockey players and fans around the world. When we bring in three of the most recognized characters from that movie, we are turning back the hands of time and providing a little "Old Time Hockey" to the area. The Hanson Brothers are best known for their fighting, and with the 20,000 our guys have helped raise for the Pa Breast Cancer Coalition, we are getting that same reputation for fighting---fighting for a cure---that is."

Tickets for the event are 5.00 each and it’s suggested be purchased in advance. Fans can order tickets by mail by sending a check or money order -- payable to: Play It Again for Charity, P.O. Box 272, Campbelltown, Pa. 17010. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Come join the fun on May 2 and enjoy the Hanson Brothers' "on-and-off ice" antics. There will be many hockey prize raffles along with music by DJ Jeff of Music Mayhem, food and the opportunity to meet and greet the Hanson Brothers. Interested fans can visit: www.slapshot2.org for more information.
