March 2008
February had an extra day this year. So that
means we had sooo much extra time to get things
done, right? February must have just dragged
along, what with that 29th day and
all, right? WRONG. Where does the time
go? Not just the time throughout each day, when
I find myself asking, “how did it get to be 4:00
already?” But the time throughout each month,
and ultimately each year.
We’re already 2 ½ months past
Christmas. The first day of spring will be here in
a matter of days. I’ve booked my summer vacation.
And that little breast cancer conference we do each
October? Oh yeah, that’s coming at us fast and
furious again.
Life at the PBCC is cyclical.
If it’s fall, we must be talking about Breast Cancer
Awareness Month. If it’s spring, we must be talking
about the Income Tax Check-Off. But by cyclical, I
do not mean predictable or boring by any means.
In fact, this July, we are
teaming up with the PA Association of Community
Bankers for a new and different event to benefit the
PBCC. It’s called “Take A Swing Against Breast
Cancer” and it consists of homerun derby events in
each of the state’s minor league baseball stadiums.
As of this writing, there are 9 stadiums already
participating. Very soon we will be looking for
volunteers and derby teams at each of these events.
And of course we’re already looking for sponsors.
Please contact me at
heather@pabreastcancer.org if you think your
company might be interested in this incredible
visibility opportunity.
So while I appreciate and am
grateful for our recurring and repeating programs,
it is events like this year’s Homerun Derby that
keep me on my toes. However, July will be here
before I know it. So I’d better get to work. Time
grinds on…
