July 2007
It can’t possibly be July already. That would mean that my summer break is one-third of the way over, which would mean my internship with the PBCC is one-third of the way over! Where did the time go?
Well, as a matter of fact, I know where the time went: the PBCC has very graciously put this little summer intern to work. Let me tell you- a lot goes on in this office! I arrived just in time to assemble the “Standing Strong” survivor care boxes, generously funded by the Lance Armstrong Foundation, only to watch them fly out the door the following week!
I’ve also had the opportunity to get in touch with many of you, our dedicated volunteers. With the beautiful summer weather, volunteers and fundraisers around the state are hosting events to benefit the PBCC. Click here to see some of the exciting things happening with the PBCC. We can always use your help and ideas, so don’t forget to sign on as a volunteer.
One of the most exciting things going on here is raising awareness about Pennsylvania’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program. The PBCC was instrumental in getting this free coverage for eligible women with breast cancer in the state. Did you know this program existed? I certainly didn’t until I began my internship here! That’s why the PBCC is getting the word out. With such a fantastic program in existence, we need to make sure that everyone knows about it so no woman is left without coverage. Click here to find out more about the program and help us get the word out.
Whew! This has been a busy June! If this pace keeps up through July and August (as I suspect it might), I’m going to need one very long nap after my internship!
