February 2007
Better late than never, right? It’s almost mid-February and I’m just now getting around to writing my monthly web letter. Is it that there’s nothing new at the PBCC? Hardly! We recently held our press conference announcing this year’s Income Tax Check-Off research grant recipients. Kudos to them! Five remarkable minds from Hershey Medical Center, three from Thomas Jefferson and one from Geisinger. These people are making a difference every day in their labs, with their test tubes, with the mice, with your dollars.
There’s still time to donate your state income tax refund to breast cancer research. It’s easy. It’s money you never had in hand! The average donation is just $8 and to date, nearly $2 million has been donated by generous Pennsylvania taxpayers. This money goes directly to the researchers. It does not pass go. It does not come to the PBCC. We never see a penny of it.
Our job as an advocacy organization is to make sure you know this is an option when you get your taxes done. It’s line 35. Talk to your tax preparer. Is she letting others know that this is an option? Does he need a poster for his office? Let us know if you would like some materials to distribute.

Help others stay alive…with line 35!
