We
could not do what we do at the PBCC without our
Grassroots Partners, friends all across
Pennsylvania who hold fundraisers and awareness
events for us.
Below is a sampling of some recent
events.

May 30, 2009 Harrisburg |
|

In The Pink, a group of local belly
dancers who happen to be cancer
survivors, held a fundraiser for the
PBCC. Pat Giovannini (2nd from
left) and Liz Yarnell (3rd from left)
were the event organizers along with
Pat's husband, Michael. Here
they pose with PBCC staffers Tricia
Grove and Jen Fetich. |

Various belly dancing troupes put on a
show at Highspire Memorial Park in
Harrisburg. |
|

The colors were beautiful. |

As were the dancers! |
|

Many motorcycles lined the parking lot. |

The belly dancers judged the motorcycles
and gave out a "Harem Award" for best
bike. The belly dancers in this
photo are all cancer survivors (3 are
breast cancer survivors) and the woman
who won the award is a breast cancer
survivor! $2500 was raised! Thanks to
Pat, Michael, Liz, In The Pink, and everyone
involved! |

May 10, 2009 Reading |
|

It's become an annual tradition to take
Mom to the Reading Phillies on Mother's
Day to benefit the PBCC. Samantha
helped out along with her mom, Tricia, a
PBCC staffer! |

Dennis and Jo Ann set up the PBCC's info
table and hand out information and
giveaways. |
|

Players wore pink jerseys, which were
raffled off after the game. If you
look closely, you can see that they even
used pink bats! |

The bases were also pink and were
raffled off to three lucky winners.
Over $4000 was raised for the PBCC.
Thanks, R-Phils! You hit another
home run! |
|
May 2, 2009 Lititz |
|

The Sophomore class at Linden Hall
in Lititz decided to
have a walk to benefit the PBCC. |

The girls enjoyed the PBCC giveaways
before setting off on a 5K walk through
beautiful Lititz. |
|

The walkers pose for a group shot in
their handmade pink shirts. |

Linden Hall is a private boarding school
with a beautiful campus in quaint
Lititz. The walk route was marked
by pink ribbons. |
|

Even though the rain was coming down,
over 100 students, parents, faculty,
staff and friends walked the soggy
route! |

Over $1100 was raised for the PBCC and
the school hopes to make this an annual
event. |
|

PBCC Executive Director Heather Hibshman
accepts a check from (L to R) Jacquelyn
Keeney, Oge Erechukwu, Kristen Andersen,
Ellie Rio and Kelsey Burgess.
Thanks, Linden Hall! |

May 2, 2009 Bass
Pro Shop, Harrisburg |
|

Dave Andrews, Director of Operations for
Total Traffic Network at Clear Channel
Radio in Harrisburg, was recently
"jailed" for a good cause. |

He chose to raise money for the PBCC.
He spent a few hours in this "cell"
drumming up donations and did a great
job! So far he has raised $335
with more coming soon! |
|

Here's Dave with his aunt, Marge
Troutman. Marge is a recent breast
cancer survivor and the reason Dave
chose the PBCC as his charity. Way to go, Dave!
The PBCC thanks you and all your friends
and family who donated to "bail you
out"! |
|
May 1, 2009 Klick
Lewis Ice Arena, Annville |
|

Once again, Play It Again for Charity
held a hugely fun and successful
fundraiser for the PBCC. The
Hanson Brothers from the Slap Shot
movies took to the ice with pink sticks,
socks, laces and pucks and played
against two teams of local talent. |

The Hanson Brothers goof around with
fans Luke and Marc Andes after the game.
The guys couldn't be nicer, staying to
sign autographs until every last fan was
gone! |
|

A small selection of the awesome raffle
prizes available at the event!
There was something for everyone. |

The Hanson Brothers played two local
teams, the Red Robins and the Harbor
House Crabs. |
|

The Schaffers organize and work the
raffle every year and have things under
control! |

Jen Fetich, volunteer Kristine Warner,
and Heather Hibshman worked the PBCC
info table and sold pink pucks and event
caps. Over $5000 was made that
night for the PBCC. Thanks to
everyone who makes this a fun and
successful event every year! |
|
April 25 - 26, 2009 Philadelphia |
|

Once again, the Northeast Rockers
Jamfest tournament was held to benefit
the PBCC. Games were played all
weekend long in gyms all across
northeast Philadelphia. |

Marty and Colleen Bednarek, along with
two players, present a $2500 check to
Dolores Magro. |
|

Lots of girls played in the tournament
and wore pink shirts for the event. |

These girls show that they "think pink"!
We thank Marty and Colleen, all the
players, and everyone who came out to
show their support! |
|
May, 2009 York |
|

Pictured from left to right are Eastern
York Middle School 6th Graders Conrad
R., Austin R., Lucas B. and David L.
The boys participated in the annual
Eastern York "Dollars for Scholars" 3 on
3 basketball tournament in March and
played well. They decided to
create customized jerseys that featured
the breast cancer awareness symbol,
along with pink names and numbers on the
back and a modified team mascot on the
front. The uniform was capped off
with a pink armband as well. To
honor their mothers, the boys collected
$100 to donate to the PBCC. This
was in addition to their contribution to
"Dollars for Scholars". Their
mothers are Cheryl, Tricia, Jonna and
Angie.
The boys did not win the tournament, but
learned an invaluable life lesson
demonstrated by their willingness to
help others. The color pink now
has a new meaning to all four of these
outstanding young men.
Way to go, guys!
Now that's true teamwork! Thanks
so much! |

March, 2009 PennEngineering
& Manufacturing Corp., Danboro |
|

Every Friday at PennEngineering &
Manufacturing Corp., employees have the
option to wear jeans. They put a
$2 donation in a collection box along
with their name. At the end of the
month one person is chosen and the
accumulated donations go to the winner's
chosen charity. Andy Ritting's
name was drawn from the March ballots
and he chose to donate the $179 to the
PBCC. Thanks Andy and
PennEngineering! |
