What is a Home Run Derby?
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition's Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Home Run Derby consists of teams and individual batters competing to hit home runs in professional baseball parks. In 2015, batters may choose from two levels: All Star and Silver Slugger. All Star batters receive 10 swings and Silver Sluggers receive 15. Batters are scores on a scale ranging from 15 points for a fair ball hit in the infield to 100 points for a home run. Each participant will get a batting average to determine the standings. Prizes are awarded to the batter at each stadium with the highest score.
All money raised through the Home Run Derby stays in Pennsylvania and allows the PA Breast Cancer Coalition to continue supporting, serving and advocating for breast cancer survivors and their families across the state! Together we are finding a cure for breast cancer now... so our daughters won't have to.
How Much Is it?
In 2015, we have two fundraising levels for batters to achieve:
$30 - All StarEach participant who raises $30 will take 10 swings at the professional ballpark of his/her choice. Batters at this level will receive an official 2015 Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Swag Bag.
$125 - Silver SluggerEach participant who raises $125 will take 15 swings at the professional ballpark of his/her choice. Batters at this level will receive an official 2015 Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Jersey and Swag Bag.
