It all starts with basic research. Thousands of Pennsylvania scientists begin their brilliant discoveries with laboratory studies and experiments. The PA Breast Cancer Coalition’s Refunds for Research program ensures their work will continue.
Pennsylvania residents have the opportunity each year to donate all or part of their state tax refunds on Line 32 of the PA-40 form directly to breast cancer research across the Commonwealth. Every penny raised in the Refunds for Research program supports researchers working to find the cause of and cure for breast cancer.
For 2014, the PBCC has selected three outstanding researchers to receive $50,000 grants:
• Sandra Fernandez, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology
Jefferson Kimmel Cancer Center
• Yanming Wang, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Pennsylvania State University
• Lewis Chodosh, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Cancer Biology
Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
Congratulations Drs. Fernandez, Wang and Chodosh! In order to further the groundbreaking research going on right here in PA, we need your help. Donate your state tax refund to breast cancer research on Line 32 and bring us closer to a cure.
Join us Thursday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m. as we recognize Dr. Fernandez at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson in the Bluemle Life Sciences Building, Room 101 Mandeville Conference Hall, 233 S. 10th Street, Philadelphia. All are invited to attend! For more information, email Erica@PABreastCancer.org.
